I'm Shruti. I'm a freelance Illustrator and Muralist based in North Somerset. I have a BFA in Commercial Arts and advance Digital Design. I worked digitally as a Graphic Designer for several years, but when I picked up a paint brush again a few years ago, it was to paint murals. My murals came about through a love of painting and aesthetic in art, design and interiors. I began painting the walls of my home, experimenting with colour and scale. Through word of mouth my business has since grown.
I love incorporating strong women form into my murals but sometimes the brief can be limiting which I try to then capture in my digital art. Details are an important elements in my designs and my style can have a slightly naïve feel to it. I love adding depth to the artwork by including lots of extra little elements, even if they’re small and subtle. My work often depicts vivid scenes, bold beautiful and vibrant colours, patterns and lots of pretty foliage.
I have been passionate about most forms of art as an observer since I can remember. My art in practice started as a form of therapy following cancer surgery and ongoing treatment during the Covid pandemic. Firmly of the belief ‘choose to do things you enjoy - they will be the ones you stick with and make you feel better’, I began my life post cancer with a completely clean slate. I started studying art history again and coupled it with travel. I have an idea about art and enabling artists, particularly Shruti. Here was an opportunity to set up a partnership with someone whose passion and talent for art I enjoy and where a partnership would allow me to unleash my experience and skill set to help bring Shruti’s art to more people.
As to making art, I am a fledgling learning the techniques of various forms of art to see what appeals and how I can evolve to incorporate what resonates with me. Who knows, one day I might have something that is ready to show and in the meantime I am having the best fun in learning and making. And I am loving getting this partnership off the ground to see where it takes us. I am fortunate that this venture allows me to explore my own art making practice and is helping me discover what I love about making art.
